Cambodia's tax authorities have asked each executive with commercial gambling operations to declare all non-game business practices and pay appropriate taxes on them.
The General Bureau of Taxation under the Ministry of Strategy and Finance issued the order in an announcement on Thursday, Phnom Penh Post reported.
The news outlet cited the department as saying some operators have not yet done so.
Under the guidelines, Finance Minister Aoun Pomonro on Feb. 1 approved commercial gamblers to declare non-game debt in terms of taxes and abolish other applicable penalties for delinquency if they pay related tax bills before the end of March.
Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the authorities for collecting domestic taxes, equivalent to 122.54% of the government's initial target, in terms of tax collection across the country.
"The General Bureau of Taxation has earned 22.54% more than we expected, more than $635 million," the prime minister was quoted as saying.
Cambodia reportedly began operating a new casino game taxation system based on game revenues, not lump sum payments, in early January.
